Ryan Unzicker
Top-10 finish in Prairie Dirt Classic prelim at Fairbury
Tuesday found Ryan Unzicker in action at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) for the MARS Championship Series-sanctioned Hoker Trucking 50.
After racing his way into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a runner-up run in his heat, Unzicker was an early retiree on lap 24 with fuel pressure issues.
Pulling double duty in the Late Model and Modified ranks on Friday, Ryan headed to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the 33rd running of the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. With 63 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries crammed in the pit area, Ryan rolled to an eighth-place finish in his preliminary feature after qualifying mid-pack. In the Shaw Racing Modified, Unzicker jumped up three spots in his prelim to register a third-place finish.
On Saturday, Unzicker missed a transfer spot by two cars in his B-Main, relegating him into the non-qualifier feature where only the race-winner was given the option to tag the tail of the field for the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic. Making a late bid to challenge Jason Feger for the win in the closing laps, Unzicker fell 0.096-seconds short to finish second. He retired from the Modified A-Main with nine circuits remaining.
