Ryan Unzicker notches second-place finish in Gary Cook Jr. Memorial

Following a third-place finish in his heat, Unzicker managed to gain three spots in the feature while battling carburetor issues to finish.

Joining the MARS Racing Series on Sunday at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) for the Gary Cook Jr. Memorial, Unzicker’s third-place finish in his heat placed him on the fourth row for the $5,064-to-win finale. Inching forward five spots in the 40-lap affair, Ryan raced to a runner-up finish, which came behind Jason Feger. Brian Shirley, Rich Bell, and Kolby Vandenbergh completed the Top-5 finishers.
