Unzicker visits The Dome for Gateway Dirt Nationals
Ryan Unzicker returned to the driver’s seat of his RJR Transportation No. 24 Late Model on Friday evening at The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.) for his preliminary night for the seventh annual Gateway Dirt Nationals.
With the 127-car field split into two groups for prelims on Thursday and Friday, Unzicker timed in 16th-fastest in his group before going sixth-to-second in his heat race. Chasing a $5,000 payday in his preliminary feature, Ryan rebounded to finish 12th after getting spun around on lap 14 while running eighth.
On Saturday, Ryan’s bid for the $30,000-to-win Gateway Dirt Nationals finale drew to an early close after getting collected in a tangle while battling for a transfer spot in his qualifier.
